With our ample experience in the field of hunting, this project has been undertaken with a view toward large game hunt of the Boc Balear, as well as for the preservation and maintenance of this animal and its habitat.
We are a business that is aiming, with the assistance of Mallorca’s big game association, Asociación de caza mayor de Mallorca, to raise awareness and promote this topic of local buck goat hunting.
Morphological and ecological evidence shows this is a wild animal that is fully integrated in its natural environment and subject to hunting pressure, while it exhibits a genetic make-up that is clearly distinguishable from that of any other wild or domestic goat.
The Caza Mayor quality certificate is an indispensible pre-requisite for hunting the Mallorquin wild goat as well as for the approval of trophies.
the hunt of pure specimens, with amounts and reference numbers of seals allocated in four categories: medal-worthy male, selected male, selected female and kid, under which each specimen will need to be identified once killed.
These must be tied in the shape of a number “8” on the horns of the male, and attached to a front-leg hoof in the case of females and kids, stating the capture date, both on the main body as well as on the seal’s flap card.
This label must then be submitted to the relevant local body along with the hunter’s details, the location and date of the capture.
In recent times, feral varieties which were previously strictly domestic, have produced the current situation of genetic introgression and overpopulation in the Tramuntana mountain-range. There are nevertheless, higher concentrations to be found in different areas, of specimens with phenotype traits traditionally referred to as “fina” and which stem from the original introduction, known as the wild Mallorquin goat.
The Balearic Boc or wild Mallorquin goat is among the most recent additions to the huntable species list established by the SCI. A goat species certified by Consell de Mallorca, this may only be hunted on land duly permitted for such activity, by the Balearic Islands’ hunting authorities.
The animals are typically around 1,25m in length and rarely exceed 40kg in weight, with the exception of some adult male buck goats, which can weigh over 50kg.
The horns, present in both genders, are greatly developed in males, wide-open, long and spiral-shaped. The females have arched horns with far less length and thickness than in the male, parallel and not in a spiral.
The eyes are of a clear amber colour and their ears broad and straight.
Their colour lies between bright red and fire-like, with a black back-stripe that reaches the base of the tail, as well as the inside of the legs, hooves, lower chest, inside of the ears, forehead, lip and the lacrimal avenues below the eyes.
This phenotype colour distribution varies with age, gender and a specimen’s own individual colour traits.
Cimarron goats usually roam in small herds, commonly including both females and Young males, while adult males, billy goats and more commonly the older ones, are more solitary and erratic.
Kid births take place in spring and in autumn, usually only producing a single goat.
Their diet is highly varied, including fruit such as mastic, acorns, palmetto, other plants such as the sweet reed, wild grasses, tender pine tree shoots or oak as well as the leaves from a countless range of plants bushes and shrubs, heather, rosemary, also eating the bark of many trees. Kid births take place in spring and in autumn, usually only yielding a single goat.

Scolopax rusticola, known locally as becada, chocha perdíz, sorda or gallinuela, is a species of wader bird in the family Scolopacidae. It is of a medium size, varying in length between 30 and 36 cm, with a weight of 300 to 350 grams. It has a fine, long beak with which it catches its prey. Its plumage, thanks to which it perfectly camouflages into its surroundings, is of a very cryptic brownish red tone, stained by other blends, ochre and black.
Its habitats stretch from the Azores and the Canary Islands as far as the Pacific coastline, in temperate and northern climates of Europe and Asia. It hibernates in the Mediterranean basin and countries such as Iran, Afghanistan, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Myanmar, northern and southern ends of India, as well as the south-east of China.
It inhabits forests, both hard and softwood, in which it spends all day hidden. When in migratory transition or wintering periods, it comes down as far as the oak forests, meadows and foothills. With strictly twilight behaviour habits, it comes out at night to feed amongst wetlands, mainly eating worms it catches by sinking its long and thin beak in the ground, but also feeding on insects, centipedes, small slugs and snails.
